Seasons Are-A-Changing

Thoughts on a Thursday

Hello, fellow Ravenites!

When the season changes from Summer to Autumn, I am always torn and a little saddened. I love the beauty that comes with the change, yet I am saddened as Summer is my favorite season. Even more than that, Winter is my least favorite out of all of them. I am definitely not a cold-weather person. Yes, I know I live in Idaho and yes, it gets cold here. Fortunately, not as cold as places like Minnesota and the Dakotas. While they are beautiful in the summertime, I'm just not a fan of forty-below temperatures. It can get down to minus ten here, but it's rare. While it does snow here, ours is measured in inches, instead of feet. The nearby mountains get plenty of snow, but here in the high mountain desert, we don't get near as much, and I'm okay with that.

Back to Autumn, I do love to see the changing colors and the cooler temperatures do feel good, especially after a month of near and above one hundred degrees. This time of year my wife and I tend to take more drives to enjoy the changing colors. We tend to go north past Ketchum where mountain ranges rise on both sides. When there are no wildfires blazing nearby, the air is clear and crisp and it really makes me want to find an area to break out a book and read for a while, or even write a few pages. Either way, it is a beautiful time of year.

Now, what does all of that have to do with writing? Absolutely nothing! I just wanted to take a moment and recognize what was, and what is to come. I'm inching closer to the last portion of the sequel I am working on. I wouldn't say I have writer's block, but I have just had a difficult time writing lately. There are several ways I could go to end this book, and I am struggling to pick which character to kill off. Oops! Was that a spoiler? Probably not. I could be joking, or am I? Hmmm..... guess you'll have to find out once it's for sale sometime next year. I have to say, I'm excited by this sequel. I've expanded the world a bit, but not too much. Book three is going to be insane, I think. Raven has no idea what's in store for her, that is if she even survives the sequel. Was that another spoiler? Would I really do that? The third book could be the Elysia Chronicles if she even survives. Who knows? Could there be so much carnage to make another book unnecessary? Probably not, so one of the aforementioned characters should survive to see what trials lie ahead. Maybe both will. For those who haven't read Magic Reborn yet, I could be lying about all of it. Guess you'll just have to pick up a copy and find out!

On a more serious note, thanks again to everyone who has purchased my book. It is truly humbling knowing you would spend your hard-earned money to read my book. I do appreciate every one of you. I know this blog will be relatively short, but I just wanted to send a quick note to let you all know where I'm at with the sequel. Stay tuned for more updates, and have a great upcoming weekend!
